About Us

Mission Statement

The Office of Prevention Programs is dedicated to enhancing the highest student achievement of all Broward County students by promoting a safe and drug-free learning environment. This is accomplished by engaging all stakeholders through a variety of services in the areas of substance abuse and violence prevention, including classroom support, counseling, and community outreach.

The Office of Prevention Programs (OPP) employs over 20 culturally competent family counselors and prevention specialists that have assisted in the implementation of the OPP's vision to provide violence and substance abuse education; mental health services; and appropriate referral, treatment, and follow-up services.  In order to move in this new direction of student support, OPP has collaborated, created partnerships, and carefully planned services and programs.  We strive to always deliver quality services and welcome the opportunity to speak with interested parties.
