Project B.L.A.S.T. - Building Lasting Attitudes and Strategies for Tomorrow
Project B.L.A.S.T. is dedicated to promoting the academic, behavioral, and social success of all Broward County students by engaging families in a variety of services including counseling and community outreach.
The B.L.A.S.T Prevention program is a dynamic comprehensive family counseling program sponsored by the School Board of Broward County, Florida Department of Children and Families, and Florida Department of Education. The counseling service offers free, short-term prevention counseling to students and families, emphasizing violence and substance abuse prevention. The B.L.A.S.T. Program also provides counseling services to students in the District's Alternative to External Suspension programs.
The B.L.A.S.T. program is aimed at preventing and treating student behavior problems through individual, group, and family counseling by focusing on responsible behavior, learning appropriate decision-making skills, and promoting a strong self-esteem in students. By "Building Lasting Attitudes and Strategies for Tomorrow," the B.L.A.S.T. program aims to provide quality services to students and their families that will enhance positive life choices long after the counseling is completed.
Recognizing that student problems often affect the entire family system, parenting skills groups in addition to family counseling are offered through the B.L.A.S.T. program. Our family counselors also provide presentations at schools, community centers, churches, and various other locations to discuss the issues of violence and substance abuse prevention.
Services are provided at no cost to any family who resides in Broward County and has school-aged children, grades K-12, in Broward County Schools.
