Parent Involvement
The intent of the grant is to engage and encourage parents to be active agents and partners who can help to infuse Character into the culture of our schools, homes and community.
To date, presentations have been made to parents at such venues as PTA and SAC meeting at a number of the 8 model schools. A handful of parents even participated in a meeting held with Ms. Sharon Burton, our grant coordinator from the U.S. Department of Education.
Please know we are very interested and actively requesting that parents join our Advisory Board – just contact us if you think you might be interested! This Advisory Board will oversee our activities and make recommendations to improve our effectiveness as we Build Character – Into the Curriculum and Beyond.
In the spring, several parents joined the Kids of Character Selection Committee to decide which students would represent their Zone as the Kid of Character for 2007-2008. Some of the wonderful parents who volunteered to serve on this Committee were from New Renaissance Middle, Millennium Middle and Pompano Beach Middle and can be seen below:
