CONNECT! with Kids

CONNECT! with Kids broadcasts have been a huge success! Once a month throughout the school year, WFOR-TV, CBS Channel 4, in partnership with Dade and Broward County Schools, airs one-half hour programs designed to help students and their families address current social issues, including bullying, substance abuse, teen suicide, obesity and HIV/AIDS. CONNECT! is a unique initiative that combines interactive, science-based prevention curriculum with multimedia presentations which, in addition to the WFOR broadcasts, includes video and Internet activities. Currently, the CONNECT! curriculum is being piloted in various sites throughout the district through BECON district learning. The curriculum is based on 26 character traits and provides 78 unique. student-based video segments, interactive lessons and extension activities.

Get Real About Violence

Get Real About Violence is a research-based, age-appropriate prevention curriculum for students in grades K-12. Get Real About Violence is an effective and user-friendly tool that helps you build a culture of non-violence at your school or organization. The program targets a wide range of violent behavior, whether it's bullying, teasing, and rumors among younger children or threats and assaults in later years.

Skills for Managing Anger (SMA)

Skills for Managing Anger (SMA) is a 12 session, interactive, video-based program that teaches youth ages 12 to 24 how to deal with aggression and violent behavior. Skills for Managing Anger is built around Tutored Video Instruction (TVI), a proven method of teaching that combines the impact of interactive discussion and role plays with the consistency and easy implementation of video-based content.

Too Good for Drugs

Too Good for Drugs™ (K-12) is a school-based prevention program designed to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use among students. Too Good For Drugs™ has a separate, developmentally-appropriate curriculum for each grade level. Each curriculum builds on earlier grade levels, an instructional design which enables students to learn important skills sequentially and retain them year after year.
