What is REALITY AVENUE?

Reality Avenue is a Telly award winning, innovative,  and engaging series of 12 half-hour  prevention education programs. Topics covered include addiction, body image, bullying,  and more.  The program was made possible by the vision of the Broward County Public School’s Office of Prevention Program’s.  Program design was driven by student focus groups in order to ensure a style of delivery that would appeal to them.

The show’s goal of prevention education is accomplished by bringing students, teachers, and families together and by presenting facts and skills in an entertaining format.  A Multi-Sensory or Multiple Intelligences approach is utilized in order to teach important life skills. Lessons are youth directed and styled to be fast paced, up-beat, energetic and modern.

Reality Avenue is accessible to all families in the Tri-County area through the School Board’s broadcasting company, BECON TV, as well as the Comcast cable station.   All topics are appropriate for middle and high school students.  Some topics may also be appropriate for higher grade elementary school students (at each school’s discretion).  FCAT and Sunshine State Standard related exercises  to accompany viewing can be be found under the Show Topics section.
