What is Reality Avenue?

Reality Avenue is a Telly award winning, innovative,  and engaging series of 12 half-hour  prevention education programs. Topics covered include addiction, body image, bullying,  and much more!  The program was made possible by the vision of the Broward County Public School’s Office of Prevention Programs and Broward county’s students.  Students appear in each program and Reality Avenue’s design was driven by student focus groups in order to ensure a faced paced, up-beat, energetic and modern style of delivery that would appeal to today’s generation.  The show’s goal of prevention education is accomplished by bringing students, teachers, and families together and by presenting facts and skills in an entertaining format.  A Multi-Sensory or Multiple Intelligences approach is utilized in order to teach important life skills.

What is available to YOU through Reality Avenue?

CLASSROOM EXERCISES – Each and every show has FCAT and Sunshine State Standard classroom exercises created for teachers and counselors to use with their students. The exercises are divided into Elementary, Middle and High School. Some of the exercises are designed to create discussion; some are for small group dynamics or homework exercises, and others might best be suited for individual lesson plans. While all of the exercises ascertain whether the information being taught is being received, some are more abstract and reflective in nature. It is for the teacher to decide what is most appropriate for their needs and the needs of their students.
