What we will explore on this Reality Avenue show:

What is the problem and why should we care about Diversity?

One of the great truths in life is that we are all the same…and we are all

different.

While our differences may be interesting for some, they can pose a danger to us from others.  Every hour somewhere in America someone commits a hate crime because of their lack of understanding and appreciation of diversity.  If you look at discrimination and prejudice withing The Pyramid of Hate by The Anti-Defamation League, you can easily see how if left unchecked and unchallenged, prejudicial attitudes toward diversity can tragically lead to death, and even genocide.

What can we do about it?

When we stretch ourselves and go outside our ethnocentric comfort zones, we all benefit!

On this show we will hear the perspectives of our multicultural student group, and the very up close and personal stories of two very different faces of diversity.  One is a woman who has years of experience with differences and it’s fascinating to hear how these experiences have changed and shaped her.  The other is a young man who bravely shares his life experiences of being perceived by some people – even his family – as “different”.  Both of these stories speak of the pain of discrimination, the joys of tolerance and inclusion, and their hopes for the future.

Join us on Reality Avenue’s “Diversity – How Different Are We REALLY?” and be empowered to look beyond the obvious and become one of the many voices that choose inclusion over exclusion.
