What is REALITY AVENUE?
The goal of is to educate and empower people to take control of their lives. It is the voice of this generation and was created using student focus groups, but it is for ALL people. We all have so much to learn from each other and this is a place where we can begin to prevent and intervene with violence and substance abuse issues.
What does REALITY AVENUE have to offer you and your students?
VIDEO CONFERENCING - is working with all the Middle and High School Peer Counseling Coordinators to set up video conferencing forums where students can ask questions of the show's hosts and discuss their feelings regarding the topic addressed.
The first video conference is scheduled for "Body Image - Seeing the REAL You":
Middle schools are scheduled to view the show January 24, 2007 on BECON at 10:30am, then the video conference will take place immediately following and last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
High schools are scheduled to view the show January 26, 2007 on BECON at 1:00pm with the video conference taking place immediately following, again lasting approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

CLASSROOM EXERCISES - Each and every show has FCAT and Sunshine State Standard classroom exercises created for teachers and counselors to use with their students. The exercises are divided into Middle and High School. Some of the exercises are designed to create discussion; some are for small group dynamics or homework exercises, and others might best be suited for individuals.
While all of the exercises ascertain whether the information being taught is being received, some are more abstract and reflective in nature. It is for the teacher to decide what is most appropriate for their needs and the needs of their students.

How can you be a part of REALITY AVENUE?
Do you have an ideal student or group of students for ? Although the filming of this season's shows is complete, we will be filming our group, individual, street and expert interviews in the coming year. We are always eager to hear from our teachers and students, both in the show and as focus groups and pre and post testing groups. The show needs to be both entertaining AND effective!
