Discovery Health

Office of Prevention has purchased a site license for all Broward County Public School employees to have access to Discovery Health through Discovery Education through Project Bridge Safe Schools Healthy Students (S.S.H.S.) Grant and Safe and Drug Free Schools funding.

Discovery Health is a one-stop website for teaching health education topics to students from kindergarten through 12th grade.  Discovery Health covers numerous topics, but key prevention subjects include: the body, alcohol and other drugs, growth and development, mental health, infectious diseases, nutrition, physical activity, safety, tobacco, gangs, anger management, character, and violence.  Within the website, teachers find lessons, work sheets, videos that they can download or stream, and other materials for teaching students about possibly the most important subject they can learn: how to promote their own health and wellness.

Accessing Discovery Health for Broward County employees is as easy as clicking on  BEEP Portal .  Log-in using your District P-code, click on Unitedstreaming, then click on the DE Health tab at the top of the page.

The website is comprised of research-based, teacher-reviewed, K-12 curriculum. Some of the curricula that have already been used throughout the county are:

  • Here’s Looking at You, in the “drugs” section;
  • Get Real about Tobacco, in the “tobacco” section;
  • Get Real about Violence, in the “violence” section

For those without access through Broward Schools, you can learn more at Disovery Education website.
