Virtual Online Education – the Future is Here!

By definition, “virtual education” is the study of credit and non credit courses from worldwide remote sites that are neither bound by time or physical location.   Online courses enable us connect with other students and our instructor at any time and in any place.  Whether we are at home in our bed or flying in a plane at 30,000 feet, we can log onto Broward County’s Virtual University and receive the latest information on whichever topic interests us most.  From desktop or laptop, we can study, research, and discover new knowledge when and where WE want.

At Office of Prevention, we have found numerous advantages to taking an online class.  We have found it can help significantly with time management – always a challenge in today’s fast paced world!  Even more importantly, we MUST as educators learn and teach in the medium that our current and future students prefer.  Our students live their lives immersed in technology.  Current research is suggesting that we need to use this same technology to help our students achieve academically.   So we as adults must advance into this world of technology as well.   Although in the past some have resisted the “virtual classroom”, being more comfortable with traditional face-to-face teaching, more and more teachers are embracing its advantages.  Join us in this exciting technology learning paradigm shift.  Shop  Broward County Public School’s Office of Talent Development online courses now!

The four prevention strands (Violence Prevention, Substance Abuse Prevention, Health and Wellness, and Instructional Strategies) are now available online along with more specialized prevention courses.
