Too Good for Drugs and Violence High School (9-12) is a research based curriculum that builds on the concepts of Too Good K-8, expanding prevention education to deal with issues prevalent in this age group such as underage and binge drinking, tobacco use, use of illegal drugs such as marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription abuse, and over-the-counter medications. In addition, it builds skills for decision making, communication, media literacy and conflict resolution, as well as building and maintaining healthy relationships. Available to BCPS’s employees through the Prevention Program’s CAB Conference.

Project ALERT is a free classroom-based substance abuse prevention program for 7th and 8th graders that’s proven to reduce the experimental and continued use of drugs. Through a series of comprehensive lessons, Project ALERT motivates students against drug use, cultivates new non-use attitudes and beliefs, and equips teens with the skills and strategies they’ll use to resist drugs. It includes online training, web-based and downloadable lesson plans, a teen leader program, videos and posters.
